The Shape of Suffering, Sorrow, and Silence

Sometimes I read our verses

and think that we are picking up where Rumi left off.

We sing the shape of suffering, sorrow, and silence,

and a longing for a spring that always seems several snows away,

until that blue sky backdrop

sun kissed skin early afternoon,

when the flowers remind us that the wait was not in vain.
